A global manufacturer of moulded rubber and thermoplastic elastomers for the automotive and component industry spotted a gap in the UK market for one of its product lines and had to move quickly to secure the opportunity.
Meda was appointed to provide multi-disciplinary design and management services to assist with the delivery of the fit-out which included the installation of a gantry crane, specialist injection moulding machines and a robot-assisted paint line. The superstructure of the building - low tie rods in the roof structure and the fine floor level tolerance posed coordination challenges for the gantry crane and moulding machines respectively, whilst innovative solutions were developed to form complex shapes required in the paint line sump.
Ancillary office accommodation, quality inspection and control, and staff welfare facilities will also be provided along with associated external chiller and filtration plant. The contract is programmed to run over a 24-week period, commencing in January 2026.
